Page Management (adding, updating, removing, etc.)

Adding Pages

  1. Login to the back-end of the website.
  2. In the top bar select ‘NEW’. 
  3. Select the ‘Page’ button at the top of the page.
  4. This opens a blank page editor where a new page can be built using the default WYSIWYG editor (which looks similar to a Word editor just below the introduction section on the page) or MacSites Elements.
  5. To save the page content and publish the page, select the ‘Publish’ button at the top of the right column in the ‘Publish’ box. Nothing is required to publish a page in WordPress, but at a minimum a title is recommended. This will make the page public to anyone.

 

Updating Pages

  1. Login to the back-end of the website.
  2. In the left sidebar, select ‘Pages’. This will link to the listing of all pages for the website.
  3. Find the name of the page that requires the edits. Select it.
  4. This opens the page editor where changes can be made to the page’s content. 
  5. Once the edits are made, select the ‘Update’ button in the ‘Publish’ box at the top of the right hand side.

 

Removing Pages

  1. Login to the back-end of the website.
  2. In the left sidebar, select ‘Pages’. This will link to the listing of all pages for the website.
  3. Find the name of the page that will be deleted. Hover over it. Depending on the configuration of the site, there will be one of two options to delete a page:
    1. A trash bin icon on the far right. Select it to delete the page.
    2. The word ‘Trash’ below it. Select it to delete the page.

Note: When pages are deleted from WordPress, the is a trash bins that automatically empties periodically, however this isn’t recommended as a back-up. If the content isn’t ready for deletion, we recommend unpublishing the page and saving it as a draft (next item).

 

Draft Pages (optional tool)

Pages can be developed over time. For this reason, there is also the option to keep the page in ‘Draft’ mode until it is ready to be published. To save a page as a draft follow the steps below:

  1. Select the ‘Save Draft’ button at the top of the ‘Publish’ box.

Note: A published page cannot have a draft. To turn it into a draft, you must unpublish the page.

 

Previewing pages (Optional TOOL)

At any time, changes made to a page can be previewed without saving. However, it is highly recommended to close the preview immediately after inspecting it as it can create a confusing workflow for editors.

Previewing doesn’t save changes and can easily navigate an editor away from the ‘Page Editor’ where work has been completed.

 

Page templates

MacSites comes with several page templates. There are 2 templates that are populated with content by the user, and 5 templates that auto-populate for the user based on ‘Dynamic Content’.
