There are 2 types of analytics tools available for your site:

  1. WP Statistics (Free): This plugin allows content managers to access basic statistics in the back-end of their MacSite without the need for a separate platform. It is limited to basic metrics and may not have the granularity needed for some teams. To enable this on your site, please contact the MPS Web Team to make the request.
  2. Google Analytics (Free External Tool): To learn more about Google Analytics and MacSites, please consult our Google Analytics & MacSites Page.

Note: A MacSite can run both options simultaneously. There is no need to choose only one solution.

The MPS Web Team doesn’t manage MAC IDs, but we do have some connected services.

For more information on resetting your Mac ID, please consult the UTS Account Management page.

All MacSites work with an SEO plugin called ‘Yoast SEO’. When the link to your site is shared on platforms that generate a preview link for your site (MS Teams, Discord, Facebook, etc.), a specific image can be set for the preview box.

To add or update the preview image, follow these steps:

  1. In the back end of your site on the left sidebar, navigate to ‘Yoast SEO’ -> ‘Social’.
  2. Select the ‘Facebook’ tab. Note: This setting will work for more than just Facebook.
  3. Make sure that the ‘Add Open Graph metadata’ is enabled.
  4. Scroll down to the image preview box.
    1. To add an image: click the ‘Select Image’ button.
    2. To update an image: click the ‘Replace Image’ button.
  5. Step 4 will open your site’s media library. See below for guidance on which image to use. For more about working with images, please visit our Image Management page.
  6. When you’re done, don’t forget to select ‘Save Changes’.

Important Note: After adding or updating the preview image, you’ll need to allow 24-48 hours for the changes to reflect in a preview box on any sharing platform.

Image Guidance/Suggestion

McMaster Branded Sites: Please download either the McMaster Profile Image (.png) or the McMaster Brighter World Profile Image (.png)

Partner/External Branded Sites: Choose the image you want to use (from your site’s media library) as the preview. It’s best to use a square image (social media icons work well for this!).

MacSites doesn’t support ecommerce plugins or 3rd party payment integrations of any kind.
