Google Analytics

What is Google Analytics?

Analytics is one of Google’s measurement tools that helps understand a website’s users through intelligent data collection and analysis.

How much does Google Analytics cost?

It’s free.

How do I add Google Analytics to my site?

  1. Setup a Google Analytics account (or log in to an existing account). https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/
  2. To implement a connection between Google Analytics and your MacSite, please visit the documentation from Google. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9304153?hl=en&ref_topic=9303319&sjid=10013598456984989692-NA#zippy=
  3. Find the full script for your Google Analytics. There are some instructions if you expand the ‘Add the Google tag directly to your web pages’ accordion: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9304153?hl=en&ref_topic=9303319&sjid=10013598456984989692-NA#zippy=%2Cadd-the-google-tag-directly-to-your-web-pages
  4. Provide the full script to the MPS Web Team by emailing it to mpsweb@mcmaster.ca. It should begin with <!– Google tag (gtag.js) –> and end with </script>

The MPS Web Team does not create or manage analytics accounts or tags.
